Artist's Comments

This piece was created because of a mold project we were working on in class. I pressed balls into my mold to give the bottle I was going to make, a reptilean look. Once I fit the two pieces together I knew exactly what I saw, a turtle shell.

I'm calling it Sea Turtle #1 because I'm going to go back and make at least one more, if not many. A few things happened during the firing that could be fixed in another version, but the glaze and everything else about this piece I love. Some like it without the head and others think it could use a bottle stopper as a head. I will be making one of those in the future as well.

As do I.
However, I've been recommended making a head bottle stopper from more than one source, so I thought I'd do it when I got some time... which of course won't be anytime soon :giggle:
